    Tokyo 2020: Poland ranks 19th

    Poland moved up to 19th place in the Olympic medal count after our athletes won as many as four medals on Wednesday (4 Aug). The Chinese remain the leaders of the ranking.

    Polish athletes brought a lot of joy to the fans on Wednesday.

     

    First, silver was won by our sailors Agnieszka Skrzypulec and Jolanta Ogar-Hill, competing in the 470 class. Later, Patryk Dobek reached for the bronze in the 800m run.

    In the end, we were happy with two medals in hammer throw: Wojciech Nowicki won gold, and Paweł Fajdek won bronze!

     

    Also, the day before in Tokyo, the red and white team won four gold medals. First, silver was won in canoeing regatta in K2 500m by Karolina Naja and Anna Puławska. Later the bronze medal was awarded to wrestler Tadeusz Michalik, fighting in classic style in the category up to 97 kg.

     

    The icing on the cake were the two gold medals won by our women’s lightweights: Anita Włodarczyk won gold – and this is her third Olympic gold medal in her career! and Malwina Kopron took the bronze.

     

    Earlier our double rowing foursome Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska, Marta Wieliczko, Maria Sajdak and Katarzyna Zillmann won silver, while last Saturday (31 July), our 4x400m mixed relay team of Karol Zalewski, Natalia Kaczmarek, Justyna Święty-Ersetic and Kajetan Duszyński won gold.

     

    To sum up, Poland won 10 medals in total – 3 ?, 3 ? and 4 ?. Congrats!
