    New president of the Polish Football Association

    Cezary Kulesza was elected the new president of the Polish Football Association. He replaced Zbigniew Boniek, who stepped down after two terms. During the convention in Warsaw, he received 92 votes, his rival Marek Kozminski – 23.

    “Thank you for your trust. This is the most important event in my life. I invite everyone to collaborate so we can develop. I promise to work hard, I ask for your support because we are united by football,” Kulesza said to the delegates in a very brief speech.

     

    As a player, Cezary Kulesza played the position of offensive midfielder and striker. He is a graduate of Gwardia Białystok. Later he played in Olimpia Zambrów and Jagiellonia Białystok, in the colours of which he played 14 matches in the highest competition class in Poland. He also appeared in the lost Polish Cup final in the 1988/89 season.

     

    After his sports career ended, he took up business. He founded the record label Greenstar. It brings together the biggest stars of Polish dance music – disco, dance-pop, disco polo. He has also been involved in the real estate and hospitality industries.

     

    Outgoing federation chief Zbigniew Boniek became honorary president of the federation. The election was made by acclamation during the convention in Warsaw.

     

    Boniek has served as the head of the football federation since 26 October 2012. In 2016, he won once again. The term was supposed to end in 2020, but due to the pandemic, it was extended to 2021.
