PGNiG and ERU commence joint operations in Ukraine

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo and ERU Management Services have signed an agreement for the purchase by the Polish company of a controlling interest in the Ukrainian company Karpatgazvydobuvannya, which is the sole holder of the Byblivska license located in western Ukraine near the Polish border.

As a result of the agreement, PGNiG will acquire 85% of shares in Karpatgazvydobuvannya. The work schedule agreed by the partners on the license provides for preparatory work preceding the spudding of an exploration well to be completed by the end of 2021. The well is scheduled to be drilled in H2 2022, followed by formation tests. If successful, the well will be connected to the Ukrainian gas network and production will begin, which could be in 2023. The shareholders of Karpatgazvydobuvannya also plan to carry out additional geophysical surveys of the license area to assist in the design of further wells.
