    Poland defeated Finns

    Polish volleyball players won group A and advanced to the knockout stage of the European Championship 2021 with a set of victories. In the first meeting of this part of the tournament, they faced the Finnish team in Gdansk.

    Coach Vital Heynen’s charges went from victory to victory in Group A in Cracow. They beat Portugal 3:1, Serbia 3:2, Greece 3:1, Belgium 3:0 and Ukraine 3:0. Poles with the balance of matches 5-0 and 14 points scored advanced to 1/8 finals from the first place in group A.

     

    Today’s match started dynamically at 20:30 GMT+2 at Ergo Arena in Gdansk. Wilfredo Leon showed off his beautiful serve. The Poles did not give up and thus won the first set 25:16. The second one was much different even though Poles won the same score 25:16. Kubiak and Kurek served the way in which they have scored lots of points. Poles took advantage of serves at this set. 

     

    The situation didn’t change in the last set of the match. Poles defeated Finns 3:0 and, therefore, qualified to the quarterfinals with Russia.
