Otylia Jedrzejczak will be the new president of the Polish Swimming Federation. The Olympic champion defeated Jacek Śmigielski in the election, and she will replace her former coach Paweł Słomiński in the position.
There has been a lot of noise about swimming in recent weeks in Poland. The reason? Confusion has arisen around the six Poles as a result of mistakes made in their entries to compete in the Tokyo Olympics. The group in question took part in the oath-taking – they were assured of a place in the relay but were entered in the individual competition, in which their participation depended on an invitation from the world federation (FINA), and the only one athlete out of seven received it.
The players made no secret of their frustration. They vented their emotions on social media. They did not spare words in the direction of Pawel Slominski. The time for change has come. Jedrzejczak became the new president of the Polish Swimming Federation. The Olympic champion won the vote with Jacek Śmigielski 77:25.
