The Social Committee named after Jaroslaw Ziętara has prepared a special publication in the form of a book/calendar, which is to promote the knowledge about the history of the murder of the investigative journalist from Poznań.

The book/calendar for 2022 entitled “The chronicle of an unjudged crime – 30 years of Jaroslaw Ziętara’s case” was prepared in connection with the 30th anniversary of the journalist’s death, which falls next year. This is a handy compendium of knowledge, including examples of Ziętara’s journalistic achievements and excerpts from publications devoted to his case.
The idea of publishing the calendar came from Krzysztof M. Kazmierczak, a representative of the Social Committee.
“This is not a commercial venture. I would like this publication to spread knowledge about my murdered editorial colleague and to commemorate him,” he said. To this end, Kaźmierczak added, part of the print run will be distributed free of charge to journalism students so that they can learn more about the story of the man who “suffered the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom of speech.
Those who support the project financially will receive a calendar, books on Jarosław Ziętara’s case, and specially prepared gifts. The results of the drop will determine how many copies can be printed and distributed to journalists.
Jarosław Ziętara was born in Bydgoszcz in 1968. He graduated from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. At first, he worked in academic radio, later he cooperated with “Gazeta Wyborcza”, “Kurier Codzienny”, “Wprost” weekly and “Gazeta Poznańska”.
Ziętara dealt, among others, with the issues of the so-called informal sector of the economy in Poznań. For this reason, according to the prosecution’s findings, he was to be abducted and murdered. Ziętara was last seen on September 1, 1992. He left for work in the morning but never made it to the editorial office of “Gazeta Poznańska”.
In 1999 Ziętara was pronounced dead. Thanks to this, his family was able to place a symbolic plaque in the Bydgoszcz cemetery. The journalist’s body has not been found to this day.
The main patron of the publication is the Polish Press Agency. Honorary patronage is held by: Governor of the Wielkopolska Region, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, and Mayor of Poznań. Media patrons are: Nasz Głos Poznański, Radio Poznań, TVP3 Poznań, Wirtualna Polska and WTK Television.
