    The remains of Maurycy Mochnacki will be brought to Poland

    The celebration of bringing of the remains of Maurycy Mochnacki, an emigrant activist, writer, participant and chronicler of the November Uprising from France to Poland, will begin today in Auxerre, France, where Mochnacki is buried. Funeral ceremonies will be held in Warsaw on Saturday, with the participation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

    On Friday, the Government Plenipotentiary for the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad, Jan Dziedziczak, will arrive in France. He will accompany the coffin with Mochnacki’s remains on his way homeland with military assistance.

    Minister Dziedziczak’s visit will begin with laying wreaths on the graves of November insurgents – Maurycy Mochnacki, General Tomasz Konarski and Maj. Konstanty Parczewski, which are located at the Saint-Amâtre Cemetery in Auxerre.

    The Government Plenipotentiary for the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad will meet the Mayor of Auxerre Crescent Marault. The next point of the celebration is the Holy Mass at the Church of St. Genovefa in Auxerre.

    After the end of the mass, Minister Dziedziczak will give a speech and the coffin with Mochnacki’s remains will be taken out of the church.

    At the end of his visit to France, Dziedziczak will meet the Polish diaspora at the headquarters of the Prefecture of the l’Yonne department.
