DATA4 to invest over PLN 1 billion in the construction of a modern data processing campus in Poland

DATA4, a leading operator and investor in the European data center market, has just started the process of building a new data center campus in Poland, strengthening its European position. The French company will invest over PLN 1 billion to start one of the most modern computing complexes in Jawczyce near Warsaw. Ultimately, three buildings with a total net area of 15,000 m2 and a power allocation of 50 MW will be built on the 4ha area. The first phase of construction is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2023.

The construction of a new campus in Warsaw will enable DATA4 to both targets the Polish hosting and colocation market and support the development of cloud service provider customers in Central and Eastern Europe. The first stage of the investment will include the construction of a data processing centre with a gross area of 7200 m2 (2200 m2 net area for IT equipment) and a power allocation of 8 MW.

The company plans to sign agreements with renewable energy suppliers or obtain certificates confirming the origin of energy from renewable sources. In addition, cooling from the outdoor environment will be used, improving energy efficiency. Ultimately, the campus will have 3 buildings with a total net area of 15,000 m2. With the construction of the new data centre in Poland, DATA4 will connect it via fibre optic telecommunication links to networks available in Warsaw and Europe, including other campuses of the DATA4 Group, thus guaranteeing the possibility of further development to current customers and contributing to the free flow of data.

“DATA4 is a reliable data centre partner that offers customers intelligent and scalable solutions. Our network of highly connected, resilient and environmentally sustainable data centres provides the foundation for our customers’ digital growth in Europe,” said Olivier Micheli, President and CEO of DATA4 Group.

“Poland, and in particular the Warsaw agglomeration, has huge potential for digital development and is a strategic hub for connections between Western and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. The presence of our company on the Polish market is the next stage of our development, which will enable us to provide our customers with an innovative and environmentally sustainable digital infrastructure that meets their needs for modern hosting and connectivity,” added Olivier Micheli.

According to estimates, 2021 was one of the best years for the industry in Poland in terms of increased investment and rapid growth. PMR’s data centre report “Data centre market in Poland 2021. Market Analysis and Development Forecasts for 2021-2026” shows that the total capacity available to customers in the commercial data centre services market in Poland in 2020 was nearly 89 MW, and this value is expected to double and reach 181 MW within six years. Investor interest in the Polish data centre market continues unabated, driven by decisions to build cloud regions of the largest hyper scalers (Google, Amazon, Microsoft), pandemics, remote working, business continuity and accelerated digital transformation of companies.

“Poland has a stable and resilient economy with one of the highest economic growth rates in Europe. Poland’s location in the heart of Europe makes it a very attractive country for European logistics, transport and telecommunications. According to the Tech Emerging Europe Advocates report, Poland is also one of the most competitive IT sectors in Central and Eastern Europe. I am convinced that our investment will contribute to even faster development of the market and at the same time will be an attractive offer for Polish companies thinking about digital transformation,” said Adam Ponichtera, Director of DATA4 branch in Poland.
