Sensational auction of Rubens' painting in Warsaw

You can rarely buy oil paintings of old masters in Poland, therefore the auction, which will take place on 17 March (DESA Unicum) has already attracted great attention both in Poland and abroad. The name of Rubens magnetizes collectors and museums.

Peter Paul Rubens’ 17th-century “Portrait of a Lady” will go under the hammer at DESA Unicum. There was no work of this class on the Polish market before. With estimates reaching PLN 18-24 million (EUR 3,9-4,8 million), the outstanding canvas by the Baroque master has a chance to become the most expensive work of art ever sold in Poland.

“Portrait of a Lady,” held over four centuries in the prestigious collections of European aristocrats, financiers, and well-known collectors, will be on public display for the first time since 1965 at the exhibition preceding the auction.
