Natalia Maliszewska had another positive test result for COVID-19. The Polish short-track athlete had a real chance to win a medal in China in the 500 meters, but she will not be able to start.

“I find that hard to believe. I feel like someone tricked me,” Natalia Maliszewska said a few days ago in an interview with TVP Sport.

Missed medal opportunity

The Polish medal hope has no symptoms of the disease and feels well, but another test for COVID-19 performed in Beijing was positive in her case. On Wednesday, the runner-up in the 500-meter short-track world championships did have a negative result, but subsequent tests yielded unfavourable news for the 26-year-old.

On Friday morning it was reported that Maliszewska once again had had a positive result, which definitely ruled out her chances to perform in the competition scheduled for Sunday.
