April 13 – crowds of Poles gather at Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw to commemorate the late Maria Kaczyńska by lying her favourite flowers – yellow tulips.

Many Poles gathered at the Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw, including many members of the clubs of the “Gazeta Polska.”

Editor-in-chief of “Gazeta Polska” and “Gazeta Polska Codzinnie” Tomasz Sakiewicz was asked about the importance of maintaining this tradition 12 years after the tragedy in Smoleńsk.

“The memory of the fallen leaders, of the president, of his wife, who holds a representative role in the head of state, shows whether the people respect themselves or not, whether the state respects itself or not. If we do not remember those who have fallen in service, it means that we are not honouring ourselves,” Sakiewicz assessed.

“Firstly, some people wanted to erase that memory, it was the political plan of the opponent, and that is why we should remember it. The second point, the memory of the fallen, reinforced the question “What happened?” That is why we should stick to these traditions even more,” he added.
