The Military Counterintelligence Service identified one citizen of the Russian Federation and one citizen of Belarus who were engaged in espionage activities in Poland. On the basis of the Military Counterintelligence Service documents, the suspects were arrested by the military police. Both heard the charges, and the court decided to detain them temporarily for three months.

The men arrested on April 21 and 22, 2022, are suspected of spying for Russian intelligence services. Both heard the allegation of an offence under Article 130 (1) of the Criminal Code. At the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, the court ordered the provisional arrest of the suspects for three months.

The material collected by Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) indicates that the Russians and Belarusians took measures against Poland on behalf of the Russian secret service, which consisted in identifying the functioning of the Polish armed forces, including the military presence on the Polish-Belarusian border area.
