    Festival of Italian Cinema in Warsaw

    Starting from May 6th, the 11th edition of Cinema Italia Oggi will take place in the Muranów Cinema. The audience will be able to watch movies directed by top Italian filmmakers, such as Nanni Moretti, Jonas Carpignano and Paolo Genovese. Before each projection, there will be a lecture by Italian film and literature expert Anna Osmólska-Mętrak.

    Cinema Italia Oggi is a yearly overview of new Italian cinema. It’s organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in Warsaw and Cracow, Luce Cinecitta and Muranów Cinema. This year’s edition will take place from May 6th to May 10th.

    The opening act of the festival will be a screening of “Three Floors,” a comedy-drama about different people struggling with life problems who live in the same tenement. It’s based on a book by Israeli author Eshkol Nevo and was directed by Nanni Moretti, who won the Golden Palm twice.

    Among other movies projected during the event will be “Supereroi,” the newest romantic comedy by Paolo Genovese, “Freaks Out,” a historical-fantasy drama directed by Gabriele Mainetti, as well as “A Chiara,” the third and final part of Jonas Carpignano’s film trilogy set in a Calabrian town (“Mediterranea” and “A Ciambra”). During Cinema Italia Oggi will be able to see new movies by illustrious Italian directors and get acquainted with their cultural significance thanks to Anna Osmólska-Mętrak’s lectures.
