Artwork of Sean Scully finally exhibited in Poland

The exhibition “Sean Scully. Painting and sculpture” opened in the Museum of Modern Art in Torun. It’s the first exhibition of this artist in Poland, and one of the biggest he has ever held.

Sean Scully was born in 1945 in Dublin. His art represents the movement of emotional abstraction. He’s considered one of the most important painters of the modern world and was placed 11th in the 2021 ranking of the best painters by Contemporary Art Issue.

The exhibition consists of 50 paintings in acrylic or oil on canvas. The biggest part of it will be the Doric Series, made out of twelve monumental paintings inspired by the architectural style of antique Greece. There is also a painting that Sean Scully has donated to the Museum of Modern Art in Torun – “Wall Landline Irena,” inspired by the World-War-II nurse Irena Gut-Opdyke.

The exhibition is open until September 11th, 2022, during the Museum’s opening hours. On Thursdays, all tickets cost 5PLN, and on the other days, normal tickets cost 15PLN and reduced 10PLN for one exhibition and 15-25 for all of them.
