On Wednesday, July 13, the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson visited children from Ukraine in Będzin and Czeladź. She wanted to see cities where Ukrainians found shelter from the conflagration of war. It was a great experience and the Duchess had the opportunity to talk with the warmhearted people of Poland. It was her third visit in Poland since war with Russia first broke out in March in the Ukraine. On February 24, the Duchess’s charity, Sarah’s Trust, sent three lorry loads of supplies to Poland after Moscow ordered its troops into Ukraine. Sarah, Duchess of York is the former wife of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the second son and third child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Both during and after her marriage, Sarah has been involved with several charities as a patron and spokesperson. Her charity work primarily revolves around helping cancer patients and children. She has been the patron of Teenage Cancer Trust since 1990 and has founded Children in Crisis.
In the years after her divorce, Sarah was the subject of scandals that affected her relationship with the royal family, but she has appeared in various royal events in recent years. She has authored several books for children and adults; and has worked as a TV personality and film producer.
During the meeting in Będzin, The Duchess of Zork talked to families who have fled the Ukrainian city Obukhov. She was wearing a blue jacket and a badge in the colours of the Ukrainian flag during the photoshoot with dignitaries at Mieroszewski Palace in Bedzin, a partner city of Obukhov.
“I’m glad to be here. We have been here since March, when the war started. We support Poles so that they can support refugees from Ukraine. I want to thank my friends for their hospitality and accepting those who were in need. The war must end so that children can came back homeland, Ukraine.”, DOY Sarah Ferguson said.
