Nearly 390,000 Ukrainians were employed in Poland concerning simplified procedure

Close to 390,000 Ukrainians have found employment thanks to streamlined procedures introduced to help them find work, a deputy family and social policy minister has said.

Under a law, Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Poland after February 24, the date on which Russia attacked their country, can take up employment without the need to apply for a special work permit.

Among other measures, the new law offers Polish language training to refugees and facilitates labour inspections.

Stanisław Szwed, a deputy family and social policy minister, told a state-owned broadcaster TVP Info on Tuesday that the majority of employed Ukrainians under the simplified procedures are women who fled the war in Ukraine.

He added that, in total, more than 770,000 Ukrainian citizens currently work legally in Poland.

Recent data from the Polish Border Guard show that around 5.37 million refugees, mainly women and children, have crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border into Poland since the start of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
