    [UPDATE] A car accident in Szczecin – a passenger vehicle drove into the Odra River for unknown reasons

    A passenger vehicle drove into the Odra River for as yet unknown reasons at the exit from the Piotr Zaremba Castle Way overpass road in Szczecin, Poland. The services are operating on the scene and according to the police, a rescue operation is underway. The event has taken place today just after 7 a.m. Firefighters are taking part in the action, underwater firefighters, as well as the police and an ambulance service.

    “There are services on the spot, the causes of this incident are being determined. We are establishing monitoring and witnesses of this incident” – the Press Spokesman of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Szczecin,  Paweł Pankau claims.

    According to the police, underwater firefighters went under the water and tracked the vehicle at a depth of about four meters. At the moment the preparatory action is underway to retrieve the car from the water. According to the account of the person who notified the services, there was supposed to be one person in the car.

    The rescue action ended after 11 a.m. today. The car is already at the quay. According to Police Officer Przemysław Majer, one member of the rescue team remained on the scene near the river. There was one person in the car who, unfortunately, is dead.
