Volleyball Women's World Champs: Five-set thriller

The Polish women’s volleyball team finished fourth in Group B of the 2022 World Championships, losing 2:3 (25:22, 23:25, 22:25, 25:18, 11:15) to Turkey in their last match of the first phase of the tournament after a tie-break. It was an amazing match, full of emotions.

The situation before the match was clear: a win against the Turkish women ensured Poland’s triumph in group B and a good starting position to fight for promotion to the quarter-finals of the World Championships.

The first set started not very well for the Poles. Losing by as many as five points, the white-and-reds mobilised and made up for the loss. They levelled the score, came out on top and won the first set consecutively.

The next set started very well for the Polish team. Initially, they were in the lead, until at some point they lost concentration and allowed the Turkish team to come out on top.

The third set was full of surprises and a fierce battle. Each team wanted to come out on top. The Poles tried, but unfortunately, it was the Turkish women who were more determined and won this set as well.

The fourth set seemed to be lost. However, the Poles proved that nothing is impossible. Despite many lost points, they made up for the loss and came out on top! They thus led to a tie-break.

The tie-break was extremely fierce. Each team made mistakes, but it was the Turkish women who had more luck. The challenges turned out to be better for them than for the white and red team. After a great, exciting but also fierce battle, the Polish women lost to Turkey 2:3.
