    Julia Kąkol, a former representative of Poland, ends her volleyball career

    Julia Kąkol bids farewell to her illustrious volleyball career after playing her last match for Grot Budowlanych Łódź in the TAURON League. The match, which was for the bronze medal, might be her last game in front of her adoring fans. Julia announced that the 2022/2023 season would be her last, drawing the curtain on her career in the sport.


    Julia’s volleyball journey began when she was only 10 years old, playing mini-volleyball at UKS Środa Wielkopolska. Over the years, she went on to play for SMS Sosnowiec, the Polish national team, Pałac Bydgoszcz, Radom, Świecie, and Budowlani Łódź, where she spent six seasons.

    In an emotional statement, Julia expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her throughout her career, especially her husband, family, friends, teammates, coaches, physiotherapists, and the fans who made the sport what it is. She reminisced about her achievements, which include two silver medals, one bronze medal, one Polish Cup, and two Polish Super Cups.

    Julia’s retirement marks the end of an era, but she looks forward to new adventures and goals. She is proud of representing Poland and playing with the national team for many years. She thanked everyone who contributed to her success, and while she will miss playing, she feels that it is the right time to retire.
