Miami Open: Linette beats the former ranking leader

Polish tennis player Magda Linette displayed her superior skill in a thrilling Miami Open third-round match against Victoria Azarenka, ultimately securing a 7:6 (3), 2:6, 6:4 victory.

After an even first set, Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka and Polish player Magda Linette were neck-and-neck. Azarenka managed to break Linette’s serve and secure her own, creating a lead for the remainder of the match. Linette held her own in the following games, displaying great determination and capitalizing on her opponent’s mistakes.

The match was decided in a tie-break that began in an even 3:3 draw. However, Linette won three consecutive balls, and moments later, she won the whole set.

At the start of the second game, Pole maintained her composure despite her opponent’s increasing frustration. After leading 2:0, the tables suddenly turned as Victoria Azarenka began to dominate. Eventually, the Belarusian won the second set.

The third set was also even. It was almost impossible to predict who would be the victor. The Belarusian was in a lead, but then Linette broke her and won a game without losing a point, resulting in a draw. Linette had built a lead, but the experienced Azarenka stayed in touch throughout the match. In the end, it was the Pole who won the third set and, at the same time, the whole match.
