Iga Swiatek is still competing at Indian Wells, having gotten the better of Emma Raducanu with a score of 6:3, 6:1 in the fourth round. She will now face Sorana Cirstea in the quarterfinals.
The beginning of the match was evenly matched. Swiatek tried to maintain control, but Raducanu played aggressively, sometimes riskily, which paid off for her. However, with time she started to make mistakes and the Pole took advantage of that.
At the start of the game, there was no clear leader. Swiatek attempted to keep the momentum, but Raducanu took risks with her shots and was rewarded for it. Eventually, Raducanu started to make errors and Swiatek was able to capitalize on them.
The sixth game was extremely important, and the top-ranked player managed to get ahead (4:2). Despite the British player’s determination and effort, the Pole ultimately won 6:3.
Raducanu began the second set by getting a game, which ended up being the only one they got as they lost their next three consecutive serves, the last two of them being easy wins for Swiatek, allowing her to move on to the next round with considerable ease.
Swiatek progressed to the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells WTA tournament after defeating Raducanu. Her next opponent will be Sorana Cirstea (83rd in the WTA ranking), who beat Caroline Garcia (5th).
