The Silesian Voivodeship Police informs that yesterday Gliwice police officers received a report about a strange package on the train headed to Szczecin. The package sent from Silesia was supposed to contain electronics but suddenly began to move and hiss. The package, posted in one of the Silesian cities along the train route, contained the Royal Python.
The sender of the package, a 40-year-old woman, was asked to the site and an inspection was carried out. It turned out that the package contained a gentle, non-venomous snake from the constrictor python family – the royal python.
Evidently frightened, he adopted a passive attitude and did not cause any problems during the intervention. The woman explained that she sold it because of the safety of children. The reptile has been growing and becoming stronger and stronger.
After a long search, the officers reached a person breeding snakes, who declared that he would take care of the animal for the duration of the proceedings.
Police officers from the economic crime department will now conduct proceedings for violation of the provisions on the transport of animals. It will also be checked whether the snake was legally bred and if sending it in such conditions was not a form of animal abuse.
