Security issues dominated Tuesday’s talks of Sejm Speaker Elżbieta Witek in the US Congress. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, took part in the talks, and she assured that the US was doing everything to ensure Europe’s security.
“Security issues were the most important topics we discussed in the context of sanctions against Russia and the fact that the conflict in Ukraine is still unresolved and we talked about the danger it brings,” Witek told reporters after the meeting at the Capitol. The topic of the discussion was also broadly understood cooperation in the field of security, including the presence of American troops in Poland. Parliamentarians of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia also participated in the talks in the Congress. They said they would like American troops to be stationed in their countries. Witek quoted the head of the House of Representatives saying that security matters are crucial and no matter who holds power in the US, the United States is making efforts to ensure security in Europe.
