In the new Lithuanian government, there will be a Pole, Ewelina Dobrowolska. She is going to become the new Minister of Justice. Dobrowolska is a lawyer and well-known civil rights defender.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda summed up his talks with candidates for Ministers proposed by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė. He said that Dobrowolska had surprised him pleasantly. Previously, through Lithuanian media, there was a wave of criticism concerning Dobrowolska. She was accused of not graduating the master’s degree and having controversial tattoos.

‘She was well-prepared to this talk’ – assessed President on Friday evening in the interview for public television LRT. Despite some different point of view, she was prepared for every question she was given by the Chancellery of President’s workers.

Dobrowolska comes from Vilnius and during the talk, she demonstrated that she took seriously her future tasks and ‘is ready to take the responsibility for her actions’. President admitted that she is quite young and does not have enough political experience, but in his opinion, it is not a problem.

In the same year, she also ran in the parliamentary elections from the list of the liberal Freedom Party. She was elected as the Member of the Seimas.
