The writers who signed the letter emphasized that “in the time of crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, at the time of the unprecedented campaign against uniformed officers: soldiers, policemen, border guards, they want to express their support and appreciation to all brave people who guard the Polish borders”.
“In the hybrid war that – using thousands of immigrants – the regime of the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has declared on us, it is they who stand on the front line and risk their health and lives,” it was written.
“We are writers, translators, publishers and editors by education, often humanists after studying history, law or philology. We learned about difficult Polish history from reading, and many of us also wrote about it, both in literary and journalistic form. Therefore, we know that a country with hostile neighbours can only exist sovereignly if it has a strong military,” we can read.
Therefore, the signatories of the letter “oppose all those who – acting for the benefit of hostile dictatorships – organize vulgar, full of lies attacks on officers defending Polish borders”.
“We know that in difficult times, people facing ruthless incitement and harassment need every support, even as symbolic as ours. This is why we wholeheartedly support the defenders of our common good, which is the Republic of Poland,” declared the writers.
