The governing United Right coalition would retain power if elections were held in May, according to a new poll.
The CBOS poll put the United Right on 36 per cent, 17 per cent ahead of its nearest rival, Civic Coalition, the main opposition grouping.
Compared to a poll in April support for Law and Justice, the dominant party in the ruling coalition and its partners rose by 4 percentage points (pps). Civic Coalition saw its support increase by 2 percentage points.
Szymon Holownia’s Poland 2050 remains in third place but saw a slight drop in support. His party would take 9 per cent, down 2 pps in April.
CBOS said that if the elections were held now, and all parties would take part in them, only three parties would enter parliament, with the rest failing to cross the 5 per cent threshold needed to get parliamentary seats.
With no change from April, 4 percent of voters declared their willingness to vote for the Left. On the other hand, compared to the previous month, the hard-right Confederation lost support again, holding only 3 per cent of the vote – a decrease of 1 pp.
Over the last four months, support for the agrarian Polish People’s Party (PSL) – Polish Coalition has remained unchanged at 2 percent.
The expected turnout for a May election stood at 74 per cent.
The CBOS survey was carried out on May 2 – 12, 2022 on a sample of 1,087 people.
