2022 “In the Silesia Sky” Balloon Competition in Tychy and Pszczyna this Friday!

The best balloon teams from Poland and Europe will compete with each other on this Friday in Tychy and Pszczyna! The 2nd Balloon Competition for the Cup of the Marshal of the Silesian Province “In The Silesian Sky” begins June 24. 20 balloon crews will compete in various categories, the most popular of which include “Hare and hound” or dropping the marker by players as close as possible to the place set by the judge, known as the “cross”.

The hot air balloon is the first successful human-carrying flight technology. The first untethered manned hot air balloon flight was performed by Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier and François Laurent d’Arlandes on November 21, 1783, in Paris, France, in a balloon created by the Montgolfier brothers. The first hot air balloon flown in the Americas was launched from the Walnut Street Jail in Philadelphia on January 9, 1793, by the French aeronaut Jean Pierre Blanchard.

Hot air balloons are one of the most beautiful and impressive ways to commute in the sky. Usually, they are colorful, impressive, and catch the eye! “In the Silesia Sky” competitions gather crowds of people who observe the rivalry and take pictures. It is not surprising, especially when the number of balloons is over 20!

This year, the second edition of the competition changes its previous localization. The competition consists of 4 flights which will take place accordingly – 2 in Tychy and 2 in Pszczyna. Emotions will surely be provided by the night shows when large glowing lanterns can be watched in the sky.
