    A fire in Lower Silesia Forest – about 80 hectares of forests are burnt

    A fire in Lower Silesian Forest broke out yesterday. A rescue and firefighting action is underway. The action has been performed by the PSP and TSO units and firefighting airplanes chartered by Polish State Forests. The Official Polish State Forests account on Twitter informs that currently a extinguish the fire has been took place and a necessary steps have been taken to eliminate its results.

    A firefighting airplane, or more precisely aerial firefighting is a type of aircraft used to application of aerial resources, both fixed-wing and rotorcraft, on a fire. In Poland, the most popular airplane used during the firefighting actions is the PZL-Mielec M-18 Dromader (Polish: “Dromedary”).

    Today, the fire has been successfully stopped and is being the extinguishment. In total, about 80 hectares of Lower Silesian Forest in Pieńsk Forest District and Ruszów Forest District were burned. The titanic work was performed by firefighters from 50 teams and pilots of 7 firefighting airplanes.
