    PLN 40 million funding for school canteens in Poland

    Primary schools will receive another PLN 40 million funding from the government to renovate and equip school canteens. ‘A meal in school and at home’ program is an ongoing project that has been cultivating since 2019 in Poland. The money will go to 661 public primary schools. From the beginning of the initiative, in total 2,635 primary schools have received funding in the amount of PLN 200 million.

    The aim of the project is to strengthen the caring role of primary school by creating conditions for students to eat a meal during their stay at school.

    The Ministry of Education and Science supports authorities that run public primary schools in Poland in increasing the number of school canteens and places adapted for students to eat. The maximum amount of financial support for one school is:

    PLN 80,000 for improving the improving the standard of functioning canteens (kitchen and dining room) or for new equipment for school canteens that are currently not functioning;
    PLN 25,000, for the adaptation, improvement of the standard and equipment of rooms intended for eating meals, the so-called dining rooms


    About 1,3 million of people in need benefit from the programme.
