A woman was saved from being raped on holidays – outstanding performance of Polish National Police

This year, since July 1, Polish policemen are on duty on the Croatian Adriatic coast and in Bulgarian Black Sea resorts to help the citizens in this area. Fortunately, early in the morning, Staff Sergeant Piotr Filar was doing his daily workout, when he saw a young women in danger. On daily basis, he works at the Provincial Police Headquarters in Cracow but currently he was delegated to serve in the Zadar region, Croatia. However, he was off duty when he saved a 20-year-old woman from Norway. She was a victim of an attempted rape and sexual assault.

Early in the morning, just after 5.00 a.m., Staff Sergeant Piotr Filar was jogging nearby the beach, when he heard disturbing screams. Even though he was not on a duty and he should have only enjoyed his free time in the beautiful and sunny Croatia, he reacted immediately.

It turned out that a 20-year-old Norwegian woman was calling for help because a man attempted to rape her and violate her body. An assailant was a young Croatian citizen. The policeman rescued the woman and the man now known to be 22-years-old Croatian was arrested.

Polish Officers have been assisting Croatian and Bulgarian Policemen until August 31 this year. Their duties include various commands but most of all, they help tourists, especially Poles, who rest on vacations in these countries.
