Celebrating Senior Citizens’ Days is a great idea. The holiday is celebrated around the world and aims to draw the attention of societies and those in power to the issues of ageing. Celebration of “World Senior Days” – “Senior Citizens’ Days” globally and locally are an opportunity to promote the demands of mature people to improve their situation.
The Senior Citizens’ Days aims to fight discrimination, prevention of disease, disability, and care, including health care, improve the quality of life of Seniors and equal participation in the cultural and economic development of societies.
The undertaken activities, on the one hand, allow all of us to understand the problems of senior citizens. On the other hand, these activities are an opportunity for senior citizens to get out of the house, become active, strengthen social ties, educate, and show the world that old age can be a period as beautiful and joyful as youth.
From September to October/November each year, cities belong to Seniors, with city officials handing them the symbolic keys to the gates of the cities. Seniors enjoy all sorts of activities: outdoor events, parades, processions, and social gatherings. They participate in lectures, lectures given by specialists, classes at the University of the Third Age, excursions, sports competitions, balls, free medical examinations, consultations, etc. The activities mentioned above allow for the activation of the elderly/seniors and the “merging of generations.”
Senior citizens are proof that life is beautiful at every stage of it. The so-called “autumn of life” can be as attractive as a youth.
