”It was a group of people from Germany who were on vacation in Trentino Alto Adige. A total of 11 injured have been transferred to several hospitals in the province as well as Innsbruck. Unfortunately, six people died as a result of the accident”- says Dietmar Osele, spokesman for the Lutago Fire Brigade.
The accident occurred after one in the morning in the town of Lutago in the north of the country, near the Austrian border. Young German tourists, after leaving the disco, were standing in a group on the side of the road near the bus which was supposed to take them to their hotel. Then a car pulled into them at enormous speed. According to the police, the perpetrator was a 28-year-old driver from the nearby city of Kienes, who had very high levels of alcohol in his blood. „Corriere Della Sera” daily newspaper reports that rescue teams quickly appeared at the scene, in which more than a hundred medics and firefighters took part. A field hospital was also organized to provide first aid to the victims. The condition of three wounded is considered to be very severe. The perpetrator of the accident was arrested on the charge of vehicular homicide.
