Aleksandra Mirosław Breaks World Record in First Olympic Run at Paris 2024

Aleksandra Mirosław has made a spectacular start to her Olympic campaign in Paris 2024, breaking her own world record in the seeding round with a time of 6.06 seconds. Mirosław, along with fellow competitor Aleksandra Kałucka, easily secured spots in Wednesday’s quarterfinals. The Olympic speed climbing competition kicked off on Monday morning, with Mirosław emerging as the fastest, breaking her own record twice—first with a time of 6.21 seconds, and then with the incredible 6.06 seconds.

Sport climbing was first introduced to the Olympics in Tokyo 2021, where Mirosław dominated the speed climbing event but finished fourth overall due to the combined event format. Now, with the opportunity to compete in her specialty, Mirosław has a clear shot at the podium. American climber Emma Hunt finished second in the seeding round with a time of 6.36 seconds, while Kałucka set a personal best of 6.38 seconds to secure third place.

These results provided both Polish climbers with excellent starting positions for the qualifiers. Mirosław continued to outperform her rivals, achieving a time of 6.10 seconds and decisively defeating South Africa’s Aniyah Holder. Kałucka, with a time of 6.65 seconds, triumphed over New Zealand’s Sarah Tetzlaff. The competition resumes on Wednesday, August 7th, with the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.
