    Wojciech Szczęsny Joins FC Barcelona!

Wojciech Szczęsny has officially joined FC Barcelona, the club announced on Wednesday. The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who had previously retired in August, signed a contract until June 30, 2025. Barcelona welcomed him warmly on social media, calling him a “culer,” the term for the club’s fans and members. Szczęsny is now set to play alongside Robert Lewandowski, who has been with the club for two years.

    The Medical Signing

Szczęsny arrived in Barcelona on Monday for medical tests, which were reportedly successful. The following day, he was spotted in the stands at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, where he watched Barcelona’s 5-0 Champions League victory over Young Boys Bern. Fellow Polish player Robert Lewandowski scored twice in that match. On Wednesday, Szczęsny met with club president Joan Laporta before leaving the club’s headquarters, waving to fans and reporters as he departed.

Szczęsny’s return to professional football was unexpected. In August, he terminated his contract with Juventus and announced his retirement. However, Barcelona approached him after their main goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, suffered a season-ending knee injury. Szczęsny will now be stepping in to fill this critical role for the remainder of the season.
