On December 5, 2024, First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda participated in the preparation of Christmas food packages for those in need, as part of the 28th Christmas Food Collection. The event took place at the “Serduszko dla Dzieci” Association in Warsaw’s Praga-Północ district, which provides charitable, educational, and social support. The association serves over sixty children annually through its therapeutic youth center.
A Collaborative Effort to Support Families
Together with the association’s beneficiaries and volunteers, including those from the SOS Food Banks in Warsaw, the First Lady helped prepare food packages for families supported by the organization. She expressed her gratitude for the ongoing efforts of the Polish Food Banks Federation, acknowledging the long-term work to help those in need.
Raising Awareness on Food Waste
The initiative not only provides food assistance but also educates people about food waste prevention and the importance of healthy lifestyles. The First Lady commended the Food Banks for their educational programs, which reach even preschool children, raising awareness about food waste and ecological issues.
Looking to the Future
During the event, young volunteers shared their personal motivations for getting involved, reflecting a growing volunteer movement in Poland, which now includes more senior citizens. As Christmas approaches, the First Lady wished everyone a peaceful holiday season with loved ones.
