The delivery industry has become a major contributor to Poland’s economic growth, with Glovo leading the way. According to the company’s Yellow Effect Report, Glovo and its partners generated an Economic Value Added (EVA) of €552 million in 2023, equivalent to nearly 2.5 billion Polish zloty. This staggering figure is comparable to the annual budget of a large Polish city, showcasing how digital platforms are driving the economy and helping businesses thrive.
Economic Impact: Beyond Direct Contributions
Glovo’s role in Poland’s economy goes beyond direct contributions. The company significantly impacts key sectors such as gastronomy and transport, while also driving value through collaborations with suppliers and manufacturers. “We’re growing rapidly not only in the restaurant order segment but also in grocery and retail categories,” said Sacha Michaud, Glovo’s co-founder and Vice President. He emphasized Glovo’s mission to support its ecosystem by enhancing partners’ digital capabilities and ensuring their success in a challenging business environment.
Collaboration at the Heart of Success
A key factor in Glovo’s success is its extensive network of collaborators, including restaurants, grocery stores, florists, and suppliers. This interconnected chain enables businesses to reach new customers and markets, fueling the local economy. By fostering a cooperative ecosystem, Glovo has positioned itself as a vital partner in modernizing and streamlining Poland’s delivery industry.
Driving Employment Growth
The Yellow Effect Report also highlights Glovo’s significant contribution to employment. In 2023, the company helped secure 9,032 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs in Poland, primarily in the gastronomy and transport sectors. This job creation is especially critical in today’s economic climate, providing stability to thousands of workers and strengthening the labour market.
Empowering SMEs Through Technology
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form the backbone of Glovo’s partner network, representing over 90% of its collaborators. For many, Glovo is their first experience with e-commerce. The platform’s technological support has been transformative, with 79% of its Polish partners calling the partnership essential to their success. On average, SMEs saw a 26% increase in monthly sales, often spurring further investments in areas like digital marketing and social media presence.
Looking Ahead: A Vision for Growth
Glovo aims to continue expanding its services in 2024 and 2025, focusing on rapid delivery of groceries, household goods, and specialized products like flowers and cosmetics. Adam Skrzypek, General Manager of Glovo in Poland, reinforced the company’s commitment to supporting local communities and strengthening the economy. “We strive to ensure that every partner can grow through our collaboration,” he said.
As Glovo continues to innovate and invest in its platform, it is clear that its influence extends far beyond delivery—it is a key driver shaping the future of Poland’s economy.
