Świątek Shines, Hurkacz Stumbles at Australian Open

Świątek shines at Australian Open, advancing to the third round, while Hurkacz stumbles with an early exit against Kecmanovic.

World No. 2 Iga Świątek showcased her exceptional form in the Australian Open, defeating Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova 6-0, 6-2 in just 61 minutes. Świątek controlled the match with her aggressive play, winning every game in the first set. The 23-year-old Polish star capitalized on Sramkova’s predictable style and weaker physical endurance during extended rallies.

Świątek delivered two aces and committed only two double faults compared to Sramkova’s four. In a post-match interview, she charmed the audience, joking about her limited coffee choices in Melbourne before shifting focus to her upcoming third-round clash with Emma Raducanu.

    Hurkacz’s Early Exit
Hubert Hurkacz faced a disappointing loss, falling to Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic 4-6, 4-6, 2-6 in the second round. The 28-year-old Pole struggled with 38 unforced errors and failed to break Kecmanovic’s serve throughout the match. Despite hitting 14 aces, his six double faults and lack of consistency proved costly.

This early exit marks a setback for Hurkacz, who reached the Australian Open quarterfinals last year, leading to a likely ranking drop.
