Italian media giant Media For Europe-Mediaset is reportedly withdrawing from the bid to acquire TVN, leaving Polish bidders in the lead. Find out who remains in the race.
Media For Europe-Mediaset, owned by the Berlusconi family, is reportedly stepping back from its bid to acquire part of TVN’s assets, according to Reuters. The Italian media group was primarily interested in TVN’s terrestrial channels—TVN, TTV, and TVN7. However, sources indicate that Mediaset will now focus on other investment opportunities, leaving Polish contenders as the frontrunners in the acquisition race.
Polish Companies in the Lead
With Mediaset out, the competition to acquire TVN intensifies among local bidders. Two offers remain on the table: one from Polish billionaire Michał Sołowow and another from Wirtualna Polska, potentially linked to InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska. According to Reuters, the valuation of TVN could exceed €1 billion. As the sale process unfolds, Polish buyers appear to have the upper hand in securing one of the country’s leading media groups.
