“He is ill, he has lost weight” – Matecki transferred to a detention center with a hospital ward

Dariusz Matecki was scheduled to be transferred to the Radom Remand Center yesterday around noon. Why Radom specifically? Unlike the Warsaw detention facility, the one in Radom has a hospital ward, and medical care could have been the reason for transferring the MP to a different facility.

The prosecution also confirms this reason: “The Radom Remand Center has a medical unit, and we want to ensure the best possible medical care if needed,” stated prosecutor Przemysław Nowak.

MP Mariusz Gosek (PiS) recently informed the public about Dariusz Matecki’s health problems.

“I have been authorized by the MP’s legal representative to inform you about his illness. However, please do not interpret this information as an appeal for sympathy. MP Matecki does not expect it, but he is ill and has lost 10 kg. I wanted to provide information about the medications he is taking and whether they have already been purchased,”

Gosek said outside the Warsaw detention center.

“He lost 10 kg over a short period due to illness—no one claimed it happened in a single day. He does not expect any sympathy; he simply wanted to have access to his medication in prison. He did not faint, and he did not flee to Italy,”

the PiS politician added today in a post on X.

In 2024, the same facility where Matecki is now detained also held MP Mariusz Kamiński. At the time, the PiS politician claimed he had been “tortured” when authorities attempted to force-feed him through a nasal tube despite his deviated septum. However, the Lublin Court of Appeals dismissed the case concerning forced treatment and feeding on procedural grounds.
