“Taxes must be low, simple, and family-friendly,” said Karol Nawrocki, the PiS-backed presidential candidate, during a speech in Chełmno. He emphasized that, if elected, he would propose a tax exemption for parents with at least two children.
Tax Reforms?
Speaking in Chełmno’s main square (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship), Nawrocki argued that exempting parents from taxes is essential to increasing birth rates in Poland. “This is necessary—for you in Chełmno and for all of Poland,” he stated.
He also highlighted that around 20 million Poles currently live abroad. “We need to create a concrete offer for them and speed up the process of granting Polish citizenship. The President of Poland must take care of Poles both within and beyond our borders. We want Poles here, not illegal migrants,” Nawrocki declared.
He added that Poland cannot be “dependent on ideologies that are destroying our schools and both our social and market economies.”
“We must speak out—farmers, foresters, and all of us who are paying excessively high electricity prices—at every opportunity: no to the Green Deal, no to eco-terrorism. Until we develop Polish nuclear energy, hands off Polish coal!” he emphasized.
More Funding for Defense
Nawrocki made it clear that defending every inch of Polish territory is a priority for him.
“The Vistula River is not a dividing line. We must build a 300,000-strong Polish army and fulfill the international defense contracts prepared by the United Right government,” he said.
“What is the current government doing if it isn’t honoring contracts that ensure our security? We cannot allow this. We want to live in peace, develop, and have a sense of normalcy. But to achieve that, we need to build our deterrence capabilities so that no one even considers attacking Poland. We must allocate at least 5% of GDP to defense spending,” the PiS-backed candidate stressed.
He also reaffirmed his strong support for strengthening Poland’s power through bilateral relations with the United States and within the NATO alliance.
Finally, he addressed his election rival, Rafał Trzaskowski of the Civic Coalition (KO):
“I ask for a clear declaration: What is Poland’s role in NATO? And why is your boss, Mr. Trzaskowski—Donald Tusk—trying to build an alternative to NATO through vague promises of an EU military force?” Nawrocki questioned in Chełmno.
