Lawmakers from Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party directed several questions today to Rafał Trzaskowski, whom they referred to as “Tusk’s deputy.” Among them, they inquired whether his campaign was being coordinated with the actions of prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek and whether he condemned “the actions committed by prosecutor Wrzosek” during the questioning of the late Barbara Skrzypek.

Barbara Skrzypek Has Passed Away
On Saturday morning, at the age of 66, Barbara Skrzypek—a close associate of the PiS leader—passed away. This occurred three days after an interrogation that lasted approximately five hours. The questioning was led by prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, assisted by two lawyers representing the auxiliary prosecutor. Skrzypek was interrogated alone in a room, and her legal representative was not allowed to be present.
PiS Questions “Tusk’s Deputy”
The alleged links between prosecutor Wrzosek and Rafał Trzaskowski are gaining increasing attention. PiS MP Radosław Fogiel, speaking at a press conference, pointed out that these ties are suggested not only by “numerous social media posts, photos from the June 4th march, and an eager display of political sympathies.”
During today’s press briefing at the Sejm, PiS lawmakers posed several questions to Trzaskowski and his campaign team regarding this matter:
“Does Rafał Trzaskowski condemn actions like those undertaken by prosecutor Wrzosek? We are referring to the interrogation of a retired individual who explicitly expressed concerns about her health, her distress, and requested the presence of a legal representative (…), yet was questioned in a three-against-one scenario?”
Fogiel continued:
“Is Rafał Trzaskowski’s campaign being coordinated with prosecutor Wrzosek’s actions? Are her efforts to persecute and destroy PO’s political opponents being aligned with Trzaskowski’s campaign? Just as in 2020, is Trzaskowski’s campaign or the Warsaw City Hall receiving information from investigations conducted by prosecutor Wrzosek? Is there any form of communication, correspondence, or exchange of information between the prosecutor’s office, prosecutor Wrzosek, and Trzaskowski’s campaign or Warsaw City Hall?”
A Throwback to 2020
Opposition politicians also recall that Ewa Wrzosek played an “active role in Trzaskowski’s 2020 campaign.” That year, an incident occurred in which a city bus driver was found to be under the influence of drugs.
“Numerous social media posts, photos from the June 4th KO march, support for a KO candidate for the European Parliament—all clear signs of political bias,” Fogiel listed.
Referring to the ongoing investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of information from criminal proceedings, he added:
“A motion was filed to strip Wrzosek of her prosecutorial immunity on charges of passing confidential investigative information to Warsaw City Hall official Michał D. The media extensively reported on prosecutor Wrzosek’s text messages, in which she relayed details to Rafał regarding the infamous bus accident, where it turned out the driver was under the influence of narcotics, and city oversight was inadequate.”
According to Fogiel, “that case was dismissed and covered up once Adam Bodnar’s illegal prosecution office took over.”
“We are asking these three questions out loud today. We expect answers from Rafał Trzaskowski: Is he cooperating with prosecutor Wrzosek? Is she supporting his campaign? Or will he clearly distance himself from her?” – Fogiel concluded.
