    Empik is the most popular bookish store in Poland, an equivalent of American Barnes&Noble. It was established in 1948 and its name stands for Electronics, Music, Press, and Books (in Polish: Elektronika, Muzyka, Prasa i Książki). Since 1999, it held an awarding ceremony previously named “Aces”, and in 2008 renamed to “Empik’s Bestsellers”. The 23rd edition of the contest took place in the evening on February 15th at the ATM Studio in Warsaw.

    Daniel Passent – a journalist, author, satirist and translator sadly passed away at the age of 83

    Daniel Passent was born on April 28th, 1938 in a Jewish family. During World War II, he and his family hid separately, and he didn’t remember them. His parents died in 1944, hence why he was raised by his uncle Jacob Prawin. He grew up dreaming to become a journalist and columnist. He didn’t have to wait for long; he made his debut in a daily newspaper Banner of Youth (“Sztandar Młodych” in Polish) when he was just 18. He later joined the editorial office of the newspaper Politics (Polish: “Polityka”), which he was involved with until the end of his career.

    Polish copper giant invites to participate in hackathon CuValley Hack 2022
