Renowned furniture manufacturer Black Red White has announced plans to close its factory in Przeworsk, sparking concern among employees about their future. The decision, confirmed by the local labor office, will result in the potential loss of more than 200 jobs.
According to Adam Zabłocki, Director of the County Labor Office in Przeworsk, workers will receive dismissal notices at the end of February. “On February 28, employees are expected to get their notices. It is likely they will be offered either a mutual agreement or a three-month notice period,” Zabłocki said in an interview with TVP3 Rzeszów.
The announcement has caused anxiety among staff, many of whom have spent decades at the facility. With Przeworsk’s job market offering limited opportunities in furniture manufacturing, employees fear that transitioning to new industries—such as welding or transportation, where demand is reportedly higher—will be a significant challenge.
Local authorities have pledged to assist the affected workers in finding new employment, emphasizing that the labor office will provide support and guidance for those seeking to retrain or transfer their skills. Despite these assurances, the closure marks yet another blow to Poland’s furniture sector, leaving long-term employees uncertain about what lies ahead.
