Opolskie Province Police officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBŚP) and prosecutors from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Opole have been diligently investigating a gang associated with pseudo-football hooligans from a Silesian sports club. As a result of their efforts, 12 individuals have been arrested on suspicion of drug-related crimes. During the operation, the police confiscated a machete, a baseball bat, and narcotics, among other items. The operation was carried out with the support of counter-terrorism units from the Opole Police Command (SPKP).
The investigation into this organized criminal group, which included pseudo-football hooligans from one of the Silesian sports clubs, is being conducted by officers from the Opole Department of the Central Bureau of Investigation under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Opole. According to investigators, the gang members have been involved in drug-related criminal activities for several years, primarily trafficking significant quantities of amphetamines, marijuana, and mephedrone in the Silesian and Opole Voivodeships.
Based on the gathered information, actions were taken at the end of May involving officers from the Opole Department of the CBŚP, along with personnel from the Independent Counter-Terrorism Subunit of the Police in Opole and CBŚP officers from the 3rd Department and the departments in Krakow, Rzeszow, Gorzow Wielkopolski, Wroclaw, Katowice, and Lublin, as well as the Criminal Division of the Opole Provincial Police Headquarters. The CBŚP officers were also supported by a guide and a sniffer dog trained to detect narcotics from the Opole Customs and Tax Office. The operations took place in the Silesian and Opole Voivodeships. As a result, 12 individuals were apprehended, and the police discovered and seized items such as a machete, a baseball bat, a smoke grenade, and drugs including amphetamines, marijuana, and mephedrone. Additionally, over 40,000 złoty were seized as a prepayment for future fines.
Some of the detainees are well-known to the police due to suspicions of drug-related offenses. Furthermore, three of them are subject to an active stadium ban.
The suspects have been charged by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Opole, including nine individuals with participation in an organized criminal group, ten individuals with trafficking significant quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances, and two individuals with drug possession. As per the court’s decision, four of the suspects have been temporarily detained, while six individuals have been placed under police supervision.
