Barbara Horawianka, a renowned Polish stage and film actress, has passed away at the age of 94. Horawianka, known for her roles in classic films such as Pociąg (1959), Samotność we dwoje (1968), and Kochankowie z Marony (1966), died at Praski Hospital in Warsaw.
Born on May 14, 1930, in Katowice, Horawianka’s acting journey began as early as 1935 when she performed at the Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice. Despite initially pursuing vocational education, her passion for acting led her to spend three years at the Rhapsodic Theatre in Kraków.
Throughout her career, Horawianka graced the stages of several prestigious Polish theatres, including the National Theatre in Warsaw, and appeared in numerous films and television series. She often performed alongside her husband, actor Mieczysław Voit, with whom she shared the screen in notable productions.
Her contributions to Polish culture were recognized with several honors, including the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture (Gloria Artis) in 2007 and the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2013.
