President Blocks Over 3 Million in Presidential Budget to Aid Flood Recovery

President Andrzej Duda has announced a decision to block over 3 million PLN from the budget of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland (KPRP) in a move to support flood recovery efforts. The funds, initially allocated for administrative projects, will be redirected to assist the Ministry of Finance in combating the effects of recent severe flooding across the country.

In a social media statement, President Duda emphasized the importance of solidarity with those affected by the disaster. The decision was made following a request from Małgorzata Paprocka, head of the President’s Office, to halt non-essential expenditures.

The freeze affects a total of 3.098 million PLN, which was earmarked for projects that can be delayed without disrupting the functioning of the President’s Office. The funds will now support urgent flood relief efforts, a move that aligns with the government’s broader emergency response plan.

Paprocka reassured the public that the budget cuts would not affect the office’s operations or result in additional financial obligations for the state. The impacted projects will be rescheduled for the next fiscal year and included in the 2025 budget submission.
