Sawicki Criticizes Tusk’s Remarks on Abortion Decriminalization

Sawicki criticizes Tusk’s abortion comments, calling them ignorant. PSL stresses individual conscience over party line on sensitive issues.

In a recent statement to niezalezna.pl, senior marshal Marek Sawicki (PSL) criticized Donald Tusk’s comments regarding the decriminalization of abortion. Tusk mentioned that he had reached an agreement with Poland 2050 on the issue but could not come to terms with the PSL. Sawicki argued this demonstrates Tusk’s ignorance, stating that “PSL is not involved in such discussions; it is a pointless conversation.”

Response to Tusk’s Remarks at Campus Polska

Sawicki emphasized that PSL members are guided by their conscience rather than a party line on issues like abortion. He highlighted that Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the PSL leader, attended Campus Polska to clarify the party’s stance and engage with a non-supportive audience. Sawicki also suggested that if left-wing and progressive groups seek majority support on the issue, they should consider a referendum.

    Defending PSL’s Stance

Sawicki reiterated that PSL does not impose views on its members. He expects the party to uphold its values and independence, contrary to Tusk’s claims.
