Sports halls for schools – OLYMPIA programme

The government will co-finance the construction of lightweight athletic facilities near schools. The implementation of the investment will contribute to improving the quality of physical education classes and sports training, in particular in the autumn and winter season.

Currently, in many smaller schools, the offer of physical education classes during this time of the year is limited only to exercises in corridors.

In 2023-2024, Polish government will allocate PLN 2 billion to change it. Additionally, sports investments will be associated with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first appearances of the Polish national team at the Olympic Games.

“It is the largest sports infrastructure support program in the history of Poland, with a budget of PLN 2 billion over the next two years. In 2023, we have PLN 0.8 billion in the budget, and PLN 1.2 billion in 2024. Last year’s pilot of this program turned out to be very rich in information that we obtained from the market, from our partners in the implementation of this program – i.e. Polish local governments and contractors who build this type of facilities.”,

said Kamil Bortniczuk, Minister of Sport and Tourism.

“As a result of the information from the pilot, we made a number of decisions that make the assumptions of this program more flexible. We have opened it to cities and we do not limit in any way the size of local governments that can apply for support amounting to 70 percent of eligible costs. The maximum eligible costs for the largest hall that we build, i.e. a facility with a playing field size of 20×40 meters, is 70 percent of PLN 4 million, i.e. PLN 2.8 million.”,

    he added.
