Poland mourns the loss of Wojciech Korda, the composer, guitarist, and vocalist of the iconic band Niebiesko-Czarni. The Polish Music Foundation confirmed that the artist passed away today at the age of 79.
Wojciech Korda (actually Wojciech Kędziora) was born on March 11, 1944, in Poznań, and was a prominent figure in the Polish music scene. He sang in the “Poznańskie Słowiki” choir from 1951 to 1957. Between 1964 and 1976, he was a member of the Niebiesko-Czarni band. Later, he performed as a duo with his then-wife Ada Rusowicz and toured extensively abroad.
As reported by the Polish Music Foundation, details about Wojciech Korda’s funeral, including the date and location, will be announced later.
In his final years, Korda battled severe illness, enduring six strokes. His friends and the Polish Music Foundation had been raising funds for bandages and medications over the years.
