In a surprising yet heartwarming incident, a 10-year-old struggling with fractions turned to an unexpected source for assistance—he dialed the emergency hotline. The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin shared the unusual story on social media, revealing how the young student called for help because his family “wasn’t good at math either.”
The dispatcher, though initially taken aback, explained to the boy that emergency lines are meant for life-threatening situations. However, with a quiet evening at hand, she decided to assist him. Despite her best efforts, the complexity of the math problems proved too challenging.
Fortunately, a deputy in the area stepped in. “I’m not particularly great at math myself,” the deputy admitted in his report, “but I managed to solve the decimal-related problems.” After completing the assignment, the boy was reminded to reserve emergency calls for true crises.
